Abstract
The aim of this study is examining the Black Glazed Pottery of the Tophet of Motya dating to the
4th century BC. The analysis of the pottery repertoire is twofold: it allows to understand the meaning
of the utilization of the Greek imports during the rituals, and it gives the opportunity for a
reconsideration of the spread of Attic imports in Western markets and the role of Motya in these
trades during the 4th century BC.
