Abstract

Although the existence of a typical palatial structure of the southern Levant is commonly
accepted, a debate about buildings belonging to such a category is still present and it is due to the
choice of the discriminating elements. Since the superstructure of analyzed buildings did not survive,
in this paper we propose the podium as the decisive feature instead of the plan scheme.
