Abstract
Archaeological evidence and literary sources show us images of Hittite gods and kings. The topic
of submissive enemies is known from literature but it is not depicted in any representation. A passage
from the ŠAR TAMḪARI from Ḫattuša probably describes an imagined scene depicted on the city-gate
of Purušḫanda in which Sargon is represented as the victorious king, and the king and the inhabitants
of the city as subjugated enemies as well.
