Some considerations on the names of the statues of Gudea

Abstract

The paper aims at presenting the topics related to the naming of the Gudea Statues. Beyond the
religious meaning of the names given in the texts, in fact, the proposal is put forward that they can be
used as a sort of guide fossil in order to find out a possible chronological grid for the making of the
statues themselves and implicitly of the reign of Gudea.
